Revision
of the time limit in Korea |

The provision for the time limit for submitting
a translation of PCT application has been revised in the recent
revision of Patent Law of Korea. This revision is to match the
Korean Patent Law with the decision of the PCT Union Assembly,
and to unify the time limit for submitting a translation of
international application so as to reduce the amount of unnecessary
IPE(International Preliminary Examination) and better accommodate
applicants. The revised content is as follows; |

Subject : the international application of which the time
limit, as according to the previous
provisions, does not expire on
March 12, 2003, which is the date of enforcement of this
revised Korea Patent Law. |
| Therefore,
in the case that the priority date of an international
application is after July 12, 2001, the time limit for
submitting a translation of the application in Korea is
30 months from the priority date even without a request
of the IPE. |
